What is an air rifle?
Air rifles are guns that are popular primarily for recreational shooting, because they do not require a firearms license to use them. These weapons are powered by compressed air, which fires a projectile - in our case, a pellets or BB buckshot. Popular brands include Hatsan airguns, Crosman or Gamo airguns and Umarex. Due to a recent change in the law, we also offer airguns with no restriction on muzzle velocity for sale.
Remember that quality is reflected in its price, but the most expensive air rifle is not always the best choice. Therefore, consider your needs carefully and choose the one that will be most suitable for you. In addition to the airguns themselves, we also offer rifle scopes or targets and shooting ranges to make your shooting experience more enjoyable.
Airguns - what makes them different?
Air blowers are divided into three categories based on their drive system. They are spring, CO2 and PCP. Another criterion that is important to distinguish in air guns is the calibre i.e. ammunition size, which is 4.5 mm, 5.5 mm, and 6.35 mm. Last but not least, these weapons distinguish power, which until recently was limited to 16 J. Thanks to the amendment of the Weapons Act, which is effective as of February 1, 2022, you can now purchase airguns that do not have a power limitation. This means that you suddenly have a weapon with an energy of quietly around 100 J and can shoot at distances up to 150 m. These guns are offered in the FULL POWER category.
What air rifle should I choose?
Here are some factors to consider when choosing an air rifle.
1. Purpose of use: Decide what purpose the air rifle will be used for - whether for fun, sport shooting, hunting smaller game, or training.
2. Type of air rifle: There are three basic types of air rifle - spring, CO2 and PCP (pre-charged pneumatic). Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. Consider which type is best suited to your needs.
3. Caliber: Consider what caliber your air rifle should be - 4.5mm, 5.5mm, or 6.35mm.
4. Material. Consider which material will be best for you in terms of weight and durability.
5. Brand: Consider whether you prefer brands with a good reputation and a long history of making air guns.
6. Price: Airguns can vary in price from a few thousand crowns to tens of thousands of crowns. Decide how much you are willing to spend and what you expect from your air rifle.
Types of air rifles by propulsion
Spring Airguns
For beginners, we recommend airguns with energy up to 16 J. Spring-powered air rifles are among the cheapest air rifles with a price of around 3,000 CZK, so they are ideal for recreational target shooting. Specifically, we recommend the models, Crosman Copperhead, Hammerli Hunter Force 900, etc. The downside of these breakers is that they have to be reloaded/breaking in before each shot. However, even with that kind of power, combined with a good rifle scope you can shoot at distances up to 50m and with the 5.5mm calibre it is also suitable for varmint hunting. After a while, one has to take into account that the spring wears out and thus the performance drops. However, this is a common issue that we solve by replacing the spring in our service. All spare parts are original from the manufacturer. Spring spring are simple to use and maintain, which makes them a great choice for beginners.
CO2 airguns
CO2 air rifles are one of the popular types of air guns that are powered by CO2 bombs. Additionally, the use of CO2 bombs is convenient and efficient, allowing for easy reloads without having to reload the weapon after each shot. Depending on the type of ammunition, CO2 airguns are suitable for sport shooting or hunting smaller animals if you use diabolos. For fun (destructive shooting) you can use target BB buckshot cal. 4.5 mm. The advantage of these air rifles is that they allow you to shoot in full auto mode, so for destructive shooting we recommend using CO2 submachine guns.
PCP air rifles
For the true, passionate shooter, we have PCP airguns, which are among the highest quality and strongest airguns. The airguns are powered by a cartridge (container) which contains compressed air. The capacity of the cartridge is up to 500cc. Filling is done by overfilling from a conventional bottle (divers, firefighters), another variant of the most difficult is pressurization by a pump or the simplest by a compressor. The PCP mechanism allows to load the gun with high pressure up to 100 J and then shoot with high accuracy at distances up to 150 m. The guns are therefore popular among professional shooters, because they offer accurate and stable shooting at long distances. In addition to sport shooting, PCP airguns are often used for hunting larger game or for fun plinking. Compared to other types of air guns, PCP air rifles are usually more expensive and maintenance intensive, but provide significantly higher performance and accuracy.
Don't forget a quality optic for your air rifle
If you don't choose from the many offered airguns-with-optics, we also offer options to purchase a separate optic. The types of optics available for air rifles are varied, ranging from riflescopes to collimators and holographic sights. While riflescopes offer the shooter a magnified and accurate view for more distant shooting, collimators and holographic sights are ideal for quick acquisition of close targets due to their compact and lightweight design.
To maximize accuracy and avoid damage to optics, it is important to choose a high quality rifle scope with higher recoil resistance.
It is necessary to pay attention to the right choice of rifle scope for your particular air rifle (type, power), do not forget about quality mountings and above all do not be lulled by cheap models, which often cannot withstand pressure and shocks, and as a result are only a short-term solution.
We offer proven rifle scopes from Valiant that can withstand power up to 3000 J!
Remember that investing in quality optics will pay you back in precise results and longer optics life, which means less maintenance costs. Choose your ideal riflescope and enjoy shooting to the max!
